Today I decided to give myself a day of total self-care and nurturing. I’ve been working hard on my new video series, taking classes on marketing and social media, and spending way too much time on the computer. I also don’t feel fully recovered from my miscarriage just over one month ago.
So at mid-day I walked out the door wrapped head to foot in warm clothes, backpack on with a full bottle of water in the side pocket, and headed out for an adventure.
My first stop was a great deli in town for a delicious salad box which I then took to the park and scoffed down in like one minute. I’ve always been a fast eater but I know I should work on slowing down.
I sat in the park for almost an hour and enjoyed the rather unseasonable sunny day. I spotted my first daffodil of the year and there were some bluebells poping up through the soil.
Then I took a walk along the coastline ending up at the supermarket to look for something for tea. John bought me Jamie Oliver’s 30 Minute Meals for Christmas and I made my first recipe from it last night (Spaghetti alla Puttanesca, which was gorgeous). More Jamie Oliver tonight.
Tonight I’m planning to work on my inspiration journal, which is the journal of images I collect that speak to my spirit in some way. I always keep a stack of inspiring images that I tear out of magazines on hand. I did a video about my inspiration journal last year which you can see here.
What do you do to nurture yourself? Has it been a while? It has been a while for me. It would be great to have one of these days every week. But then again, what would it be like if I nutured myself every day? Would I get any work done or would I just bliss out at the park all day and eat great food?
